"Faithful Families"
Encouraging families to study the Bible together.
The Education Committee at the Schaumburg Church of Christ met in January to discuss the new direction that it wanted to take and to establish a clear set of goals for the 2012 year. The primary goal that the committee wished to focus on was encouraging its members to study together outside of its organized Bible classes. To emphasize that fact, the 2012 program was entitled “Faithful Families”.
The committee asked what can the church do to help encourage families to study together? While the daily study Periods of the Old Testament has led some to begin a regular routine of home Bible study who did not before, the questions in the workbook are not suitable for younger children. A cohesive curriculum where the adult class as well as the children’s classes all follow the same general subject but with age-appropriate material was adopted to encourage Biblical discussion outside of the church building. The new curriculum was started on the first Sunday in March, which marked the beginning of the second quarter. The book of Acts was chosen as the focus for the quarter.
